accessibilityfails:

Video submission. Lack of cut curbs regularly puts wheelchair users in extremely unsafe areas- like busy high speed roads. This video is a great example of it. How safe would you feel able bodied people being forced to walk on the road with cars getting pissed off at you but there is nowhere else you can go. What do you do? Do you not do your shopping? Or do you watch cars all around you closely and go as fast as you can and pray no one hits you? What if shopping is urgent like medication? What if not going isn’t an option so you are stuck resorting to doing stuff like this which is absolutely dangerous to wheelchair users? Virtually every wheelchair user I know has had to resort to going into traffic at some point due to a lack of cut curbs. How would you feel if this was just an average day? This is what it’s like for wheelchair users when a city has terrible accessibility planning. When you see the world from our view? You can start to understand why so many of us get so bitter.
