About a year and a half ago I was having coffee with one of my professors and she said how she knew a woman who back in the 70’s wanted to be a child star. The woman’s mother was one of those shitty “Showbiz Moms” who push their kids to be actors or singers or whatever. So anyways apparently there was some movie executive who was a known pedophile in industry and took an interest in her. At the time she was like 7-9 years old and her mother pulled her aside and basically said “it’ll hurt at first but don’t you want to be a star?” And essentially handed her kid over to the guy and let her stay at his house overnight. She went to pick her up and that was the last time they ever saw that executive. She was never given a role or anything. My professor said how that’s a wildly common story in the industry of how some parents will just pass their onto some studio exec or producer in order to land a role.
yup. it is common, its the way it all goes, thats why my mom never pushed me or let me do films, other than being an extra because anything more would mean going to a “children’s” party where the only adults present were strange executive men.
and what she says is what showbiz moms always say: “yeah it sucks, but close your eyes, it’ll be all over, and we’ll be rich, and you’ll have everything”.
She mentioned those parties and how parents aren’t invited and stuff. In the wake of the metoo movement I feel like that needs to be addressed. Like there has to be a correlation between many child stars developing drug habits and going off the deep end later on in life and these creepy executives.

there was a story the other day about how he closed a restaurant to have a dinner date with an 18 year old girl (for context he’s currently 32) and his camp denied it, however there are screenshots from two years ago (when she was 16 mind you) on instagram with Drake in her comments leaving heart eye emojis. Also the fact that he’s known her for at least a couple years, before she was a legal adult, and now he seems to be cozied up to her just sets off alarm bells.
That, combined with Milly Bobby Brown having his number, them apparently “texting all the time”, and her now revealing at the Emmys tonight that he’s been giving her “dating advice” (I think she’s only like 14?) is extremely weird.
Oh and before I forget, Drake’s allegedly known/been involved with Jorja Smith for a few years. And she only just turned 21 recently.

We live in a weird culture where grown ass men will fantasize about 14-17 year old girls. Then wait until the exact day she turns 18 to voice how much they’ve BEEN wanting to smash her. Asking “what’s sexual about this” is almost insidous. Sure, she’s not naked and she’s not performing any sexual acts, but that’s not what sexualization necessarily means. The girl-child is looking longinly,
languishingly into the camera. She has her legs in a short dress spread, her lips separated, and very much make-up making her look older. She is passive, for the camera/viewer, while the boy is active, joking, playing, relaxed and as a child, respected as a child. I’m sure someone might say, “but that’s you sexualizing her, with your gaze” but come on, who are we kidding here? We know the industry sexualizes young girls, we know this isn’t a coinscidence. We know this is the pattern, the model for woman according to the male gaze or woman performing for the male gaze, and we know she is 13 and that everyone knows she is. And we know this destroys girls.
ok even if some teenage girls “look like adults”, there are still obvious differences in mannerisms, voice, maturity, etc. like, after one (1) conversation you can definitely tell whether someone is an adult or not. stop making excuses for pedophiles.
ALSO,,, as someone who hit puberty pretty early, i had visible breasts by age 11 and a lot of grown men would look at my chest or try to hit on me & got way with it on the basis of “well she looks much older” (i didn’t, i had a chubby baby face & looked honestly 13 at most) there is absolutely no conceivable way that you could mistake an 11 year old child for an adult woman. there just isn’t. stop letting men get away with this because you think they’re too stupid to tell a child from an adult.
