i’ve started work and it’s kind of dangerous physical labor and im in need of hard toed shoes and soles bc there is a medium risk of injury on the job. i really need help getting groceries and transportation to and from work bc while i’ve gotten donations they have been staggered for a little more than a month between getting to job interviews and getting food for my household. if i can i would like to meet my goal to settle bills and get to work until this next pay period.

Today we had the elections and the candidate who’s winning is extremely sexist, homophobic, white supremacist that supports dictatorships and that everything should be solved with guns (he’s also a former member of military).
He has said that women aren’t fit to work bc they can get pregnant, that the reason he had a female child was because he was “weak” when making the baby, that “gayness” is a product of parents not beating their children enough, that the biggest mistake of the horrible dictatorship our country lived in the 60’s was torturing instead of killing, etc.
So far, his hateful speeches have sparked a massive hateful following of people who idolize him and there have been numerous cases of these people doing terrible things in his name. For instance, groups of people chanting on the streets that he will kill gays (a slur was used), people taking pictures using guns in the voting cabin, hacking a fb group of women against this man, his supporters shot and killed a dog for “disrupting” their event and more.
The mainly white male following has spread inummerous fake news about other candidates and are convinced that nazism was a leftist movement and use this info to demonize the main contender, who’s a leftist. This caused the german embassy to release a statement informing them that it was (obviously) actually a right wing movement. Not surprisingly, as radical right wingers, they do not believe it. That, coupled with his VP talk of “race whitening” doesn’t shock anyone here.
The elections will soon be over and he’s winning with a 20% gap. I am completely desolate. I don’t know what to do, how life’s gonna be for me and my friends. I’ve never been more scared in my life. My country is recognized all over the world for its freedom, but we’re about to enter very very dark times.

Yesterday a black boy my age was killed in a protest and today people are celebrating this “win” setting fireworks on the streets.
A crowdfunding campaign started by two Muslim groups has raised more than $55,000 for the victims of the shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue on Saturday.
The campaign on LaunchGood, a Muslim-focused crowdfunding site, reached its $25,000 goal in less than six hours, and surpassed its updated $50,000 goal in less than 24 hours. The campaign is now hoping to raise $75,000.
“The Muslim-American community extends its hands to help the shooting victims, whether it is the injured victims or the Jewish families who have lost loved ones,” the fundraising page reads. “We wish to respond to evil with good, as our faith instructs us, and send a powerful message of compassion through action.”
As of Sunday afternoon, the campaign had raised $57,362 from 1,344 supporters.
The fundraiser was started by Celebrate Mercy and MPower Change, two Muslim-American nonprofit organizations. The groups say they are partnering with the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh to distribute the funds.
At least 11 people were killed and several others injured after a gunman opened fire at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood. The shooting is believed to be the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in U.S. history, according to the Anti-Defamation League. The suspected gunman has been charged on 29 federal counts.
The funds will go to help families of victims pay for funeral expenses and medical bills, according to the LaunchGood page.
“Through this campaign, we hope to send a united message from the Jewish and Muslim communities that there is no place for this type of hate and violence in America,” the page reads. “We pray that this restores a sense of security and peace to the Jewish-American community who has undoubtedly been shaken by this event.”
While the shooter ultimately bears responsibility, for the loss of life, there are so many people who are guilty of creating an environment where hostility to American Jews flourished. In my mind, they are the shooter’s helpers.
I want them to sit Shiva, and sit still in their discomfort and shame.
There are Americans who will sit with White Supremacy for political gain. We see you and you are not free from guilt.
Those of you who sat beside white supremacy for political wins and for raw power have blood on your hands.

The far right has blood on its hands, but the left is not innocent. The social justice movement has failed us repeatedly over the past two years.
Those on the forefront of fighting hate did not see the gravity of the threat to Jewish Americans.
We were spoken over and ignored.
We were pushed out of movements, asked to leave marches, and told that White Supremacy was not a problem for Jews.
We were told that hate crimes against us are meaningless. We were told that Charlottesville had nothing to do with anti-Semitism.
We were told over and over and over to stop centering ourselves.
It’s cold comfort to see many on the left speak out against anti-Semitism and tie it to white supremacy for the first time.
You may not have blood on your hands, but you are not innocent. To those who spent the last two years telling us to be quiet, that we weren’t affected by white supremacy, that we were selfish, that we didn’t belong in Justice work, today should wake you up.
Not to mention the fact that Mrs. White isn’t qualified to teach.
She should be required to take a remedial English course.

first, my kid would not sign anything without me seeing it first. 2nd, upon seeing it i would be at the superintendant’s office the next morning.

Dont let your children be controlled like this. I remember back when I was in school my mom always told me “if you really need to use the bathroom or attend to an emergency and the teacher won’t let you, then just leave the classroom and I’ll deal with teacher and principle”

If I was this kid I would use up those passes and then just fuckin’ throw up or get a severe nosebleed in the classroom and then refuse to leave because “sorry, I can’t go to the nurse, I already used up my two passes for the fucking MONTH”
There was a student at my high school, who we will call John Doe, who actually did that. When teachers gave him a limited number of bathroom allowances (usually 3 per semester, which was the standard at my school), he would use them in the first week, and then induce vomitting my eating rotten food he found around the school garbage cans. If teachers refused to let him go, he would just throw up on something they had to touch. Light switches, keyboards, whatever was available.
Instead of making admin do anything about this toxic policy, they just doubled down harder, to the extent that one girl politely informed a teacher that she felt like she might be about to have a seizure and could she go to the nurse, please. She was denied, sat back down at her desk, and promptly passed out and concussed herself on the concrete floor when she fell.
Another girl had severe vertigo-induced fainting, could not get a teacher to excuse her from a phys ed class, and fell off a monkey bars and split her head open, and nearly lost an eye because her glasses broke when she landed.
A student with, I believe, diabetes had a severe blood sugar drop and tried to eat a candy bar in a class with a “no food or drinks” rule. The candy bar was taken away, and she had to be taken out by EMTs.
This kind of human rights abuse in public schools is not new. I graduated a full decade ago.
I’m glad it’s being publically discussed again, (briefly around 2003-2005 this was also a popular subject of discussion). I hope that this time, concrete changes in policy are actually affected.

There are reports coming in about police having made raids on universities, seizing literature about the history of fascism, interrupting classes, removing anti-fascist displays, and prohibiting an event in Rio Grande do Sul titled “Contra o Fascismo, Pela Democracia” (Against Fascism, For Democracy), all by claiming that they were stopping attempts at influencing the election or relating ideological propaganda.
