No ‘cis’ women will benefit from this. Womb transplants should be banned for everyone, worldwide.

This whole ‘deceased donor’ line may be true in this particular case, but it’s also a smokescreen to mask the fact that poor women of colour will have their organs harvested for the benefit of rich white westerners. The womb transplant industry will use WOC for spare parts just like the surrogacy industry does today. Men in India already force their wives to sell their kidneys, selling their wombs after delivering a son will be the next step if we don’t act to ban it now.

@terfslying I’ll let you, as a disabled cis woman (and a superior discourser who would probably know more about this topic than me), handle this.

In fairness the potential for illegal organ harvesting is terrible. But the chances of it actually happening on an explosively wide scale are… slim to nil. You can’t just cut out a uterus and throw it on the market, it has to be within a transplant recipients body within 6-12 hours. Transplants already exist and if WOC were going to be used as spare parts, most poor women in developing nations would only have 1 kidney. I don’t doubt it unfortunately has happened to some people but the potential for misuse never stopped us from developing every other kind of transplant. Hell, skin transplants are the easiest thing to do and you don’t see a lot of poor women in developing company being forced to sell their skin.

But cis women will benefit too. You know who will? I will! A cis woman! My Gynecologist told my plainly that my uterus is “hostile” to fetuses. My eggs are fine, but my chances of actually getting one implanted? Not gonna happen. IVF won’t help because that still relies on the egg being able to implant in the uterus. I can’t take hormone therapies to improve my own womb because without fail when exposed to any kind of progesterone including tiny amounts used in IVF pessaries I get major depressive episodes. A uterus transplant would potentially let me be a mother. I would adore it if this technology was available for me.

Challenging new medical innovations just because they help trans women as well as cis women is a dick move. And pretending no cis women will benefit from this is just ignorant.

Let’s not neglect to mention that the original article (linked in another reblog by me) mentioned that this has specifically been performed with live donors before- and deceased transplants are the obvious next step.

Consensual organ donation is a thing, trans women aren’t here to steal your organs for a procedure that’s only in its infancy with regards to gender confirmation and fertility support. Y’all aren’t hitting up organ donors for supporting the illegal organ market because they’re giving someone a new lung or liver.

Plus, transmisogynists/TERFs have never shown support for intersex women and cis women struggling with fertility. They use pseudo-biology to encourage isolation based on their inability to have children or different hormones. They love to use things like this to isolate all women who don’t fit in their stringent categories of biological womanhood. 

I don’t think benyw is trying to say organ stealing will happen on a large scale. I think what they’re saying is that WOC will be pressured into it for financial reasons as they currently are pressured into surrogacy

controversial but in my many years as a minor on tumblr i’ve never seen a single sex worker. they always block minors, mark their blogs as nsfw, and don’t spam the popular sfw tags. even if you, as a minor, actually look for them, as long as you listed your age truthfully in the registration, you won’t be able to find them.

what i, instead, saw as a minor was:

porn bots (which could be stopped by: captcha, double confirmation for accounts, not allowing url shorteners, not allowing rebloggers to delete captions, i would even be ok with hyperlinks not being allowed in reblogs)

fetishes and kinksters (which could be stopped by: adding more tags to the nsfw filter, including fetishes/kinks that appear as sfw)

people who forget tag their shit (which could be stopped by: an auto-tagging system for sensitive tags that would work similarly to the current block for apparently nsfw posts, but can give the op the option to delete incorrect tags)

pro-ana, pro-mia, romanticization of self-harm (which could be stopped by: banning the whole tag, as it just happened)

nazi, terfs (just kick them out for hate speech like twitter does)

pro-map thankfully only appeared once i was already past 18 but of course you could just ban the whole community + tag as it just happened.

prevent usernames with words that hate and pedophilic groups use to flag from being chosen at blog creation.

while i know that tumblr is a 13+ website, nsfw content was hidden from minors last year. most cp was deleted + outlawed (both irl and drawn) for good not even last month. and while those are recent changes they did make tumblr, overall, 13+ appropriate.

i do not care much for porn, i just feel like they are solving the problem the wrong way and punishing a group of people who did nothing to harm minors. there were smarter solutions to this problem that were ignored in the favor of a very sloppy solution that doesn’t even cover stuff like sfw kink blogs, porn bots who don’t post pictures (most of them), people who just won’t tag their nsfw, hate groups and other non-sex related communities who are extremely dangerous for minors.

Honestly I’ve been an adult the entire time I’ve been on tumblr and even I’ve never come across a sex worker blog. In fact, I wasn’t even really aware they were a big thing on the site until very recently. Obviously they’re running their blogs responsibly. 

Everything else you listed though? You can’t avoid them if you try.
