I hate to ask this…

But I could use some financial assistance.

I’m in my second year of my master’s program, and I’m working to apply to PhD programs for next year.  However, as people are hopefully aware, application fees are expensive.  Very expensive.  I thought I had saved up enough for applying to a few schools, but I got blindsided by this little thing called the GRE.  At least one of the schools has a cut off for scores in terms of being applicable for funding from the graduate college as a whole, and my scores from my applications the last time were juuuuust below that cutoff.  Meaning I had to drop $200 of what was supposed to be application money onto a test.

This has sent my finances completely out of balance.   Combined with the fact that I didn’t get any partial tuition waiver this year, so I have no extra financial aid to cover the costs, and my current job pays me practically pennies.  I wish I could just save my entire paycheck aside for applications, but I need that money for food and other day to day expenses.

I only ask for $200 to offset the cost of the GRE that blindsided me (though more money is always welcome).  If I really have to, I could apply for a private loan, but they ask for $1000 minimum.  Minimum.  I already didn’t want to add another $200 of debt to my total, but $1000?

I don’t need this money right away.  I’d say by November 19 will be good enough for me to evaluate whether I need to just take the plunge and go into that much more debt or not.  I know this isn’t as life and death as a lot of other people who ask for money, but this is my career path on the line.  And the schools I’m applying to are so important to me, because most of them pretty much pay me to go to school instead of the other way around.

Click here for my PayPal if you’re willing and able to help.  Thank you.

I’m still asking for any donations. Thank you!
