It takes rice plants four to five months to reach maturity. The plant grows extremely fast. If planted on time, it will be ready to harvest in September. Typically, and acre can yield over eight thousand pounds of rice.
Isn’t that incredible?
Rice needs two and a half times the amount of water as a crop of wheat or maize would. It also tends to grow best when temperatures are above 60 degrees Fahrenheit. That means this plant would be a great crop for a tidalpunk future, in which we can expect rising tides, flooded lands, and high heat.
