Lyra Evans, who made history this year as “the first openly transgender candidate to represent one of the major political parties in an Ontario provincial election,” was elected to the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board after being inspired to run by the PC Party’s awful changes to the sex ed curriculum.

Her platform includes putting gender-neutral bathrooms in schools and teaching financial literacy skills to students.
