Sooooo my car broke down

So its actually my mom’s car that broke down this time. My car broke down over a year ago and we haven’t been able to fully fix it. But now my mom’s car has also broken down and that’s the car that I’ve been using since mine broke down.

I live about 25 miles from my job so I’ll be Ubering back and forth until I can get up enough money which is going to be hard since Uber is expensive I have one friend that lives near me (everyone else lives in the city I work in) and he can drive me to work sometimes but not all the time and he wouldn’t be able to pick me up after work.

The person that we took my car to when it first broke down said it’d cost about $4000 to fix it which is more than the car is even worth so I want to trade that car in or sell it and put a down payment on a used car for both me and my mom to use. I have about $500 saved right now but my credit is so wrecked that’s not nearly enough for a down payment.

I’m also the only person in my family that works right now so money is already so tight but I need a car to keep working.
