I hereby declare this a thread for people to state a thing they love about being Jewish. Can be a big thing or a small thing; a thing about the religion or the culture or personality/physical traits; a thing usually celebrated or a thing usually scorned.
I love the fact that we dance with a huge scroll (or multiple scrolls) around our prayer space at least once a week, if not more. Like, what a mood.
I love the oddly specific instructions for our rituals, like, you know someone tried to use an elephant as the wall for a sukkah at some point.
I love that we can fight g-d
I love that we get together and argue about the Torah every week and no one holds grudges about it once it’s over. It’s normal.
I love that being Jewish can bring people together. So much of my family members aren’t practicing Judaism but I feel like despite that I can always talk to them about our culture and our struggles. And then there are basically your synagogue family who are the ones you talk to about your mutual struggles everyday with religion in general. Also, some gooooooooooooooooooood food.
I love the sense of connection and belonging I feel when saying prayers that people have been saying in various places and centuries.
I love the fact that Judaism is all about lifelong learning and questioning.
I love all of these things but I also love that we cover the challah while we bless the wine so the challah doesn’t get jealous
