Americans: You’ll be getting an alert on Thursday and you CAN’T opt-out

This is a reminder that on Thursday, you’ll be getting a test message alert from the President. 

It will read: 

“THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed,” the message will read, due to be sent out on (Sept 17, 2018) Thursday at 2:18pm ET.

Minutes later, the Emergency Alert System (EAS) will broadcast a similar test message over television, radio, and wireline video services. – (source)

Unlike Amber Alerts, this is going to be a nationwide thing. Also, while this isn’t a new thing, unlike other alerts, this isn’t one you can opt out of.

So… just prepare yourself for that.
