You don’t know if that kid has native blood and is wearing a traditional costume.
Just because someone looks white, doesn’t mean they arent allowed to wear certain cultural costumes.
For over 10 fucking years I’ve not been allowed to wear traditional clothing from the religion I was raised with outside of religious functions among my own family and congregation.
All because I’m a white girl. Because *OF COURSE* the white girl can’t practice Voudoun.
The one time I wore it, outside of a LARP where it was known i grew up with it, I was harassed and haranged for it.
I’ve never worn it since outside of LARP, always changing before going out in public because I got tired of defending and explaining that “this IS my culture!”
Don’t punish kids, they won’t get it at that age. Put out a letter or notice or something asking for no ethnic costumes.
Actual natives (you know, with native blood) are telling you it’s not okay tho so seriously, shut the fuck up.
