I just read your Gypsy / Romani post and was surprised to learn all that stuff. In Ireland if you are a ‘Gypsy’ it has nothing to do with being brown or Indian decent, it just means you live in a caravan and move around alot. We also refer to them as ‘travellers’ for obvious reasons.

I dont know anything about the relationship between Ireland and Romani people to comment on the last bit.

Far as I’m aware, there are multiple ethnic groups throughout Europe which have been called by that slur, including the travellers in Ireland.
